There are health and safety benefits for employers if they control manual handling
risks by the use of lifting and handling aids such as:
Examples Of Manual Handling Equipment
Personal Conveyor Belt used to transport tiles and bricks up to roof/ scaffolding height
Suction Slab Lifter used to lift slabs, keeping hands and feet well clear whilst spreading the load to a safe limit
Genie Lift Used to lift heavy items such a lintels (in diagram) above head height
Plasterboard Lift Used to raise plasterboard to ceiling height
Panel Trolley Used to transport plasterboard
Sack Trolley With Lift Used to transport items such as bricks (in diagram) along the ground and over kerbs and thresholds
Gin Wheel Used to lift items to upper levels of scaffolding – these are not considered safe as they rely on the operator holding onto them.
