Course Objectives
On completion of this course learners should be able to demonstrate a knowledge of:
- An understanding of different Underground Services and their relevant Hazards
- The legislation and HSE guidance related to Excavations and CAT & Genny use
- What CAT & Genny equipment is
- Different models / specific components / software / accessories of CAT & Genny equipment
- How to use both CAT & Genny equipment
Important
(i) The use of CAT & Genny equipment should only be undertaken by those who are competent to do so. This course aims to provide the knowledge required but a person’s competency should also depend on their individual experience & practical training.
(ii) The required level of training / awareness for Underground Services and Utility detection within a specific site / location is determined by the legislation set out for the specific type of building / site.
(iii) All sites are different & will come with different Hazards, Risks & required Control Measures. An individual’s competency to plan and carry out CAT & Genny use will depend on individual assessment, which should be completed prior to assigning any responsibilities.
(iv) An individual’s competency to use CAT & Genny equipment will depend on individual competency, which should also consider the nature of the site / building / construction, the work being completed & their specific assigned responsibilities in comparison to previous experience.
(v) Graphics, Diagrams and Images included in this course should always be considered not to scale unless specified otherwise, and all brand images are representative and should only ever be interpreted as such.
