About Our Services 

Training 1st Ltd (Trading as Health and Safety Training 1st) delivers the Level 1 Award in Health and Safety in a Construction Environment, and books the CITB HS&E Operatives Tests and applies for CSCS Cards on behalf of its customers acting as a 3rd party agent.

Definitions 

www.healthandsafetytraining1st.co.uk is owned and run by Training 1st Ltd.

The terms you, your, them, individuals and customer refer to users of our website www.healthandsafetytraining1st.co.uk and services. The terms our, we and us refer to Health & Safety Training 1st and www.healthandsafetytraining1st.co.uk.

Products and services refer to the courses and tests we deliver through www.healthandsafetytraining1st.co.uk

The Green Card Test refers to the Level 1 Award in Health and Safety in a Construction Environment Test. 

The CSCS Test and CITB HS&E Test refer to the CITB Health Safety and Environment Operatives Test.

The Level 1 Course refers to the online workbook and online/ phone based tutor support we will provide you with in preparation for the Level 1 Award in Health And Safety in a Construction Environment test. 

Invigilator refers to the person who ensures your test is undertaken in line with assessment guidelines. 

Business Bookings 

If you are booking any of our products or services on behalf of a business you agree that you have the authority from the business owner to do this.

Acceptance of our Terms and Conditions

You agree that by purchasing any products or services from Training 1st Ltd over the phone, via email or online that you are accepting these Terms and Conditions in conjunction with our Privacy Policy and that this acceptance enters you into a legally binding contractual agreement with us for the provision of services offered on our website.

The receipt of payments by us shall constitute full acceptance of all terms & conditions as detailed here by you. We do not accept liability if payment is refused or declined by the credit/debit card supplier due to the customer quoting incorrect card details or for any other reasons. We do not guarantee the date upon which our services will be provided or tests taken as these may be subject to change. In some cases, this will be affected by third-party services. Training 1st Ltd may vary its terms and conditions from time to time without informing customers. In this event the terms in place at the time of customer’s purchase(s) will apply to them. It is the responsibility of customers to read, understand and comply with these terms and conditions prior to purchasing any products 

Age Restrictions 

We cannot book CITB HS&E Operatives Tests or apply for CSCS Labourers Cards for anyone who is under 16 in line with CITB's own rules.

CITB Test Bookings 

All CITB test bookings are made on behalf of customer's, subject to their availability through CITB. Training 1st Ltd will endeavour to book tests on the times and dates which customers indicate they would prefer. On occasions, however, this may not be possible and in this circumstance Training 1st Ltd will inform customers as soon as is practicable and offer them an alternative booking time, date and venue or offer a refund. Where refunds are provided, customers will not be entitled to a CITB test booking.

Training 1st Ltd will not be held liable for any loss of earnings or expenses incurred by customers or businesses due to CITB HS&E Operatives tests not taking place for any reason including but not limited to: rejected, voided or late payments, the provision of incorrect personal details, test centre closures, mis or non communication of booking times, force majeure, dates or venues, incorrect ID provided at the test centre, problems with reminders sent to individuals and problems with IT equipment or emails. 

Receiving Confirmation of Your CITB Test Booking 

All customers booking a CITB Test through Training 1st Ltd will receive a booking text or email within 48 hours confirming their booking reference, HS&E test time, date and venue, personal details used to book their tests. If for any reason this is not received please email hello@healthandsafetytraining1st.co.uk or call 0330 057 0625 so we can resolve this. We do not accept responsibility for any loss of earnings or expenses where confirmations have not been received. Where we are not able to provide you with evidence that the confirmation was sent we will refund the cost of the test. For details on conduct and ID required please see section Your Responsibilities When Attending The CITB Centre and During the Exam. below Your confirmation of booking also serves as proof of payment.

Changing or Cancelling Your CITB HS&E Test Date

You have a right to cancel or reschedule your test and if we receive 72 hours notice  there will be no additional charge for this. Requests for rescheduling CITB HS&E Operatives Tests received outside of 72 hours will require a new test booking and an additional testing fee. 48 hours notice will be required if you want to reschedule your test within 72 hours of the original test date.

Cancelling your test will incur an administrative charge of £12 to cover the cost of processing a refund, cancelling the test with CITB and communicating with you.

Requests to reschedule should be accompanied by your booking reference number and 2 alternative test times/ dates/ venues.

Training 1st Ltd accepts no liability for a refund or expenses where a request was sent but not received in time to cancel.

Booking Your CITB HS&E Operatives Test Through Training 1st Ltd

You acknowledge that your booking is for the CITB Test and not the date and time selected as these are subject to availability.

If you have previously booked a CITB HS&E test you will need to provide us with your CITB testing ID which is the unique ID that is generated when you sign up for a CITB HS&E Operatives Testing web account and will have been quoted on all correspondence that you receive in relation to your test. If you have a CITB Testing ID  account and do not provide us with this we will not be able to book your test. You can contact CITB to retrieve your CITB testing ID. If you have paid for your test and we are unable to book it due to not having your CITB testing ID  we will refund you and this will incur an administrative charge of £12 to cover the cost of processing a refund, cancelling the test with CITB and communicating with you. 

Our charge for the CITB test includes £21 charged by CITB as well as Training 1st Ltd’s booking, administration and support fee. Whilst we endeavour to make sure that advertised prices are accurate in the event that an error in pricing occurs we will inform you as soon as possible and give you the option of purchasing your order at the correct price (in which case we will credit or debit you as applicable) or cancel your order (in which case you will receive a full refund). If we are unable to contact you to confirm your order at the correct price, you agree that we may treat the order as cancelled and issue you with a full refund.

We will use the details you enter into the CITB HS&E Operatives Test booking form on www.healthandsafetytraining1st.co.uk to book your CITB HS&E Operatives Test. We are  not responsible for any bookings placed with incorrect details which result in you not being able to sit your test. If Training 1st Ltd identifies any inaccuracies contained within the details you enter into the CITB Test booking form we will contact you to check these. If your confirmation of CITB test booking contains any inaccuracies please contact us as soon as possible so we can amend these. Please bear in mind that changing details within 72 hours of your test will require a new test to be booked and incur and new test charge.

In the event that we make an error in booking your test we will issue you with a full refund or offer you an alternative test slot. Training 1st Ltd does not accept any liability for lost earnings or expenses where a test cannot take place due to an error on their part.

Your Responsibilities When Attending The CITB Centre and During the Exam 

It is your responsibility to adhere to test arrival time, ID and conduct as outlined below and Training 1st Ltd cannot accept any responsibility and is not liable for any lost income or expenses where these are not met under any circumstances:

It is your responsibility to arrive at the Test Centre 15 minutes before the Test time. CITB will accept no responsibility for candidates who arrive late or fail to arrive due to adverse weather conditions, failure of transport or any other circumstance.

You are required to bring one form of identification listed below bearing a photograph and signature. If You do not bring suitable ID you will not be allowed to take the CITB HS&E Operatives Test and photocopies of ID will not be accepted:

A valid passport of any nationality with a photograph of the candidate and their signature - must be no more than 6 months out of date

  • A valid UK only driving licence with a photograph of the candidate and the candidate's signature - must be no more than 6 months out of date

If you do not have one of these they will need two items of valid ID (no more than 6 months out of date), one from List A and one from List B below:

You may not bring anybody in to the Test Centre with you and are reminded that the Test Centre is not set up to accommodate or store large personal items including but not limited to bikes, luggage, work tools or bulky equipment. In addition, Test Centres cannot securely store bicycles (or other modes of transportation) and these must be stored outside the premises at your own risk. Any items you are carrying (including personal items such as keys, phones, bags, watches and wallets) must be stored in a personal locker provided at the Test Centre. You must not refer to any document during the Test and all Test Centres have CCTV and all Tests are recorded for security and detection or investigation of fraud purposes. CCTV footage is retained securely by the test provider for a period of up to two years. Any misconduct during the Test will result in the Test being stopped, the candidate's Test result being void and the candidate's Test Fee, including Health & Safety Training 1st's charges, being forfeited. Candidates demonstrating serious misconduct, including cheating, may forfeit their right to take a further CITB Test. In addition CITB reserves the right to revoke a Test pass if it reasonably suspects that the candidate has been involved in or is linked to any misconduct, fraud or cheating.

The Test Centre staff will explain how you can attract their attention if the candidate should experience any technical difficulties during the Test.

Important Test Delivery Information Pertaining to COVID-19:

The safety of  testing candidates and employees remains CITB's  top priority, and they continue to take necessary actions to maintain safety while learners are at Pearson VUE - owned and operated testing centres during the COVID-19 pandemic.

If you are ill or if you have been in contact with an ill person, please do not go to the test centre. Instead, please reschedule your test online for a later date.

Pearson VUE test centres follow strict hygienic, disinfectant, and safety procedures, and have social distancing measures in place. Test centre employees will be wearing face coverings and you should also wear a face mask or face covering in the testing centre and while taking your test to provide an added layer of safety. The mask will need to be briefly removed for purposes of identification and taking your photograph on arrival.

What Our Fee Includes

Health and Safety 1st Test operates as a third party booking agent for the booking of CITB HS&E Tests. The prices for booking of CITB tests and ordering CSCS Cards are those included on our website and we require cleared payment before booking your test.

Our fee for the CITB HS&E Operatives Test Includes the following:

  1. Administering requests for the rescheduling and cancellation of HS&E CITB Tests
  2. Booking the time, date and venue for the CITB test requested by the customer or an alternative time date and venue where this is not available. (£21)
  3. Checking customers personal details for errors, that they are booking the correct test and where applicable amending these. It should be noted that Health & Safety Training 1st will not accept any liability for lost earnings or expenses where incorrect details are provided by customers or an error is made in entering the details into CITB's own booking system. 
  4. Confirming customer’s HS&E test bookings via email and text

CSCS 'Green' Labourers Card Applications

CSCS Cards are valid for 5 years and can be renewed subject to the above conditions being met.  Applicants for new green cards and renewals must have passed the CITB Operatives HS&E Test within the last 2 years. Renewal letters are sent to the card holder’s home address 6 months before the expiry date printed on their card by CITB. Card holders must advise the CSCS Contact Centre if they change address or occupation.

CSCS cards can be renewed by the cardholder 6 months prior and up to 6 months after the expiry date printed on their existing card. The expiry date printed on their new card will be 5 years from the expiry date printed on the previous card. CSCS cards will not be issued to applicants if they fail to apply within this period. A new application will have to be made to obtain another CSCS card.

If the applicant believes there are mitigating circumstances why their card renewal was not made in time they can appeal in writing. Further information is available on the CSCS website at www.cscs.uk.com/cscs-cards/appeals

In order for Health & Safety Training 1st to apply for your CSCS Green Labourers Card which is available to those employed in labouring occupations, you must provide the following during booking:

CITB Approved Qualification:

A scanned copy of one of the following qualifications as requested when booking on www.healthandsafetytraining1st.co.uk 

  • RQF Level 1/SCQF Level 4 Award in Health and Safety in a Construction Environment
  • SCQF Level 5 REHIS Elementary Health and Safety Certificate.

CSCS also accepts a number of alternative qualifications but these may not be lifetime qualifications. This could mean completing a refresher course every 3-5 years before they can renew their Labourer card. An Email and secure postal address: 

A scanned copy of your pass certificate for the appropriate level of CITB Health, safety and environment (HS&E) test and dated to within the last 2 years:

Your CITB HS&E Test Pass Score Report/ Test ID:

You will have been provided with this on passing your exam.

In the event that an application is rejected due to any of the aforementioned card application requirements not being met, Training 1st Ltd will offer you a refund which will be subject to a £12 charge to cover the cost of administration. Alternatively, you can provide us with amended information and we will re apply for your card at no extra cost. Any applications Training 1st Ltd makes beyond 2 for the same individual will each be chargeable at £12 per re application. 

Training 1st Ltd will not be held liable for any loss of earnings or expenses incurred by customers or businesses due to delays in card applications for any reason including but not limited to: rejected, voided or late payments, the provision of incorrect personal details, delays with CITB, human error on Health and Safety Training’s part during the application process and the uploading of out of date or unacceptable qualifications, photographs or the CITB HS&E Test Certificate.

Receiving Confirmation of Your CSCS Green Labourers Card Application

All customers ordering their CSCS Green Labourers card through Training 1st Ltd will receive a confirmation text and email within 48 hours confirming their order. If for any reason this is not received please email hello@healthandsafetytraining1st.co.uk or call 0330 057 0625 so we can resolve this. Your confirmation of order also serves as proof of payment and that you have accepted these terms and conditions. 

Most cards arrive at their requested destination within 10 -14 working days of application and are sent out directly to you by CITB. Health and Safety 1st is not in control of postage.  Training 1st Ltd is able to request next day delivery and will do so if you have an urgent requirement but cannot guarantee this.

If your CSCS card has not been delivered to your requested destination within 14 days we will contact CSCS to provide you with an update. 

If your card has not been received within 90 days the application will be considered closed and a payment of £36 will be required to process a replacement card. Training 1st Ltd will undertake this once. Card reapplications due to non receipt beyond 1 will become the responsibility of the customer.

Changing or Cancelling Your CSCS Card Application

Training 1st Ltd will refund cancelled CSCS Card orders where your CSCS card has not already been approved by CITB. Training 1st Ltd will normally apply for your card with CITB within 24 hours and CITB can approve this anywhere from a few hours to a few days. 

Where you CSCS card has been approved there will be no refund.

Cancelling your test will incur an administrative charge of £12 to cover the cost of processing a refund, cancelling the test with CITB and communicating with you.

Important Information Relating To Your CSCS Green Labourers Card

CSCS cards remain the property of Construction Skills Certification Scheme Limited. Cards are issued to and should be kept by the named cardholder.

Card holders must advise the CSCS Contact Centre if they move house , change phone number, email address or change occupation.

If a cardholder achieves an additional qualification and then undertakes a different type of work on site, they should update their CSCS card by following the application process outlined on page 14. If a cardholder changes his/her name they should call the CSCS Contact Centre on 0344 994 4777 and provide a scanned copy of relevant documentation e.g. Deed Poll, marriage certificate etc. If a card is lost a replacement can be ordered by calling the CSCS Contact Centre on 0344 994 4777.

CITB may validate the qualification information you provide to us with the relevant Awarding Organisation, and, if at any time any information you have provided is found to be invalid, CSCS reserves the right to revoke the CSCS card and this will not be refunded by Training 1st Ltd.

If CSCS become aware that any CSCS Card holders do not have the right to work in the UK, CSCS have the right to cancel the CSCS card and they will be required to re-apply once the Individual has the right to work in - 2 -the UK

Practice Tests

Health & Safety Training 1st makes practice tests available to both learners and its website visitors. Passing practice tests in no way guarantees the participant will pass the formal test and practice tests do not in any way count towards the formal test. 

Level 1 Award in Health and Safety in a Construction Environment 

The Level 1 Award in Health & Safety in a Construction Environment course delivered by Training 1st Ltd is approved by CITB for the application of the CSCS Labourers Card (along with the CITB HS&E Operatives Test)

The course consists of material for the learner to read which covers the Level 1 Award qualification assessment criteria contained with the qualification specification. The course and test are both accessed online and will require an internet connection, lap top or PC and smartphone. Purchasing the Level 1 course does not guarantee that the learner will pass their test.

Booking The Level 1 Course and Receiving Confirmation 

To book the Level 1 Award you will be required to enter your name address, mobile and email address during the booking process. Following your booking you will receive confirmation via email within 24 hours. If you do not receive a confirmation email please contact us at hello@healthandsafetytraining1st.co.uk or call 0330 057 0625 in order that we can remedy this. The confirmation email will include details of your course, how to login to it, your tutors contact details and further information on testing.

Accessing the Level 1 Course 

The course material is accessed via Google Classroom and you will require a Google account which is free and it will be your responsibility to set up in order to login to this. Training 1st Ltd cannot set Google account up for you but one can be set this using the following link to Google:

Tutor Support & Completing  the Level 1 Course

The workbook accessible through google classroom and requires you to have a Gmail account to login. By purchasing a course with Health & Safety Training 1st you agree that you will set this up. It covers the Level 1 Health and Safety in a Construction Environment assessment criteria. You are required to read the knowledge contained in this and also complete the practice tests which are designed to test your knowledge of the subject and readiness for the test. You will need to score 80% to be put forward for the test and by purchasing this course you are agreeing that this will be completed by yourself with no help form a third party other than your tutor.

The course is self guided meaning you the learner are required to read through it yourself and your tutors role is to support you where you do not understand or require further clarification of the subject matter. Your tutor will be assigned to you through your welcome email and will contact you at regular intervals throughout your course to check how you are progressing. 

In the event that you fail to pass the question workbook your tutor will support you in the area(s) which you have failed in through clarifying the assessment criteria in group or in one to one format over the phone, video or email. There is a limit of 5 attempts at the workbook/ mock test and after this time Training 1st Ltd is unable to provide additional support.  

You are able to request support from your tutor at anytime during their working hours which are Mon - Fri, 8 am - 6 pm and Sat 9am - 1pm who if not immediately available will endeavour to respond within 24 hours. Support will be provided over the phone, via email or on screen.

Training 1st Ltd provides learners with 3 months to complete their course. After this time access to the to Google Classroom will be revoked and there shall be no refund for this and Training 1st Ltd does not accept any liability for any expenses incurred or lost earnings owing to this and/ or the test. Where there are mitigating circumstances Health & Safety Training 1st will endeavour to accommodate learners with additional time and support but does not guarantee this. 

Training 1st Ltd will not tolerate abusive behaviour towards its tutors and will withdraw learners who threaten or abuse its tutors through any means of communication without hesitation and the learners will not be entitled to a refund.

Booking & Undertaking The Level 1 Course Assessment  

Assessments are booked by contacting your tutor via email or over the phone.

The  assessment is taken online & your tutor will email you instructions on how testing works and logins to the test site in advance of this. Assessments require you to have a laptop/ PC or tablet and smartphone.as well as ID in the form of a passport or Driving licence.

You will receive your test results on the same day if your test is sat before 3pm and on a weekday where the awarding body is able to provide this. Health & Safety Training 1st accepts no responsibility for lost earnings and damages arising from a delay in providing certification due to delays on the part on the awarding body or anything else.

Your Responsibility To Provide a Correct Name

Health & Safety Training 1st will normally take your name to be that which is entered at the checkout and as a final check your confirmation of test email will contain your name as it will be spelled on your certificate - if the spelling of your name or name itself is not correct it is your responsibility to inform your tutor in advance of taking the test. If informed after your test you will be required to pay a £35 re certification fee. Health & Safety Training 1st accepts no liability for any loss of earnings or expenses incurred due to an incorrectly spelled name being registered with the awarding body invalidating your certification for the Level 1 Award in Health and Safety in a construction Environment whether down to error on your our their part. 

Receiving Your Certificates & Test Result For The Level 1 Award in Health & Safety in a Construction Environment.

Training 1st Ltd will provide test results and certificates in PDF form to learners who sit their test before 3pm and where the awarding body makes these available. Where the awarding body is unable to provide these on the same day Health & Safety Training 1st will accept no liability for losses or expenses incurred including where there has been an error on any parties part. 

Test  Checklist 

You will require the following for Level 1 course assessments 

  • A broadband  internet connection
  • A Laptop/ PC or tablet
  • A smartphone with Zoom installed 
  • A quiet room where you won't be disturbed
  • Photographic ID in the form of a passport or driving licence

Pre Test Steps

  • Have your passport or driving licence available to identify yourself (must be in date). A birth certificate & household bill can also be used. 
  • Download Zoom onto your mobile 
  • Login to the test site but DO NOT start your test
  • Join the Zoom meeting via your phone using the link emailed to you.

How The Test Works 

  • The assessment lasts 30 mins, consists of 40 questions and has a pass mark of 32/40. You can skip questions and return to them or amend your answers at any point during the assessment. 
  • The assessment will be recorded using Zoom to ensure the guidelines below are met. You will also be asked to identify yourself, show your ID and pan the room you are sitting the assessment in. 
  • Your phone must be positioned so your test screen, hands and the area to the side and behind the test screen can clearly be seen. Health & Safety Training 1st will not accept any responsibility for any loss of earnings, damage, injury or expenses where due to non adherence to these assessment guidelines your test is at a future date revoke or invalidated.
  • Recordings are stored in line with GDPR and our privacy policy
  • You will receive your results on the same day unless there is a delay the awarding bodies end.
  • Training Ltd accepts no liability for expenses or lost income where test results are delayed.

Test Guidelines

It is important that you follow the guidelines below as failure to do so can result in a automatic fail:

  • The assessment is taken in a room with no one else present where you won't be disturbed
  • You do not use any aids electronic or otherwise and no one assists you with the answers.
  • You do not ask any questions directly to your invigilator - questions about technical issues, ending the test are fine.
  • In the event that the test is interrupted for any reason it will result in an automatic fails and a new test will be required and there will be an administrative charge of £35 for this.

Failure To Record Tests

In the event that the recording of your test is unsuccessful or a breach of the assessment guidelines is identified during or after the test for any reason either on your, Training 1st Ltd's or another 3rd parties part, it will not be possible to provide you with certification for the Level1  Award in Health 7 Safety in Construction. Training 1st Ltd accepts no liability for any subsequent loss of earnings and expenses reacted to this. In this instance This is also applicable where conformation of a test pass may have been provided and in this circumstance no certificate would be issues and Training 1st Ltd accepts no liability for loss of earnings or income. 

Results 

You will normally be provided with your test results for the Level 1 Award in health & Safety in a Construction Environment on the same day or day after your test takes place. On occasions this may take longer due to the awarding bodies or our IT systems for example. In any event Training 1st Ltd will not be held liable for any expenses or lost income as a result of delayed results. In the event that incorrect test results are provided die to IT or human error Training 1st Ltd will not be held liable for any subsequent loss of earning or expenses. 

Test Cancellations, Reschedules or Failure To Go Ahead 

Test cancellations or reschedules made less than 24 hours in advance will count as test attempt. Where a test cannot go ahead due to any issue with customers internet, IT equipment and or general room set up or lateness this will also count as a test attempt.  

What Our Fee Includes

Our fee for the Level 1 Course & Tutor Support  Includes the following:

  1. Registering Learners with the awarding body
  2. Providing learners with access to an online workbook
  3. Tutor Support
  4. Communicating with learners
  5. Preparing learners for their online test
  6. Checking customers personal details for errors, that they are booking the correct test and where applicable amending these.
  7. A free resit (a third attempt at a test and anything above this will be chargeable at £35)

Cancellations and Refunds

Purchasing your course / test indicates acceptance that our performance of the contract has begun and that you agree that if you cancel within the normal 14 day cancellation period you will not be entitled to a refund. By logging into the CSCS Green Card Google classroom you are expressly waiving your right to the 14 day refund period and no refund will be given where you do not complete the course. 

Digital products are given their own unique category under the Consumer Contracts Regulations and are therefore not services or goods. Through agreeing to these terms and conditions at the point where you purchased your course and accessing your course within Google Classroom you will not be entitled to a refund and Training 1st Ltd accepts no liability for any loss of earnings or expenses incurred due to this.

Joining the CSCS Green Card Google Classroom takes place through clicking the join invitation you will be sent via email or entering the CSCS Green Card Google Classroom code you will be provided with. Removing yourself from the CSCS Green Card Classroom does not change your original acceptance to join and in this event you will not be entitled to a refund.

In the event that you have not joined the CSCS Green Card Google Classroom you may cancel your course by emailing hello@healthandsafetytraining1st.co.uk within 14 days. Outside of this timeframe there will be no entitlement to a refund whether you have joined the CSCS green Card Google Classroom or not.
