Course Objectives

On completion of this course learners should be able to demonstrate a knowledge of:

• What First Aid is

• The Requirements for First Aid in the Workplace & Relevant Legislation

• Primary & Secondary Surveys

• Effective Infection Prevention

• Appropriate First Aid Responses in Life Threatening & Non-Life Threatening Emergencies

• CPR & AED use

Important

(i) This course does not “qualify” you as an Emergency First Aider, but does provide a knowledge base for the process, and an explanation of the appropriate First Aid responses to different emergencies.

(ii) All emergency situations are different, if you are ever in doubt as to the correct treatment required, you should call Emergency Services (999 / 112) for help immediately.

(iii) The required level of First Aid training / awareness within your specific workplace is determined by the Responsible Person completing a First Aid Needs Assessment, in order to comply with regulations the needs set out by this assessment should be met at all times.

(iv) This course is designed to provide knowledge about the process of Emergency First Aid within the Workplace, and Health and Safety Training 1st accepts no responsibility for loss or damage to persons or equipment from its application or interpretation.
