On completion of this course learners should be able to demonstrate a knowledge of:

- The legislation associated with on site lifting operations
- All aspects involved in the role of a Slinger / Signaller
- Lifting equipment
- Risk Assessments & Lift Plans
- The hazards & risks involved in lifting operations
- The full process of managing lifting operations from pre-lift to landing
Important
(i) A Slinger / Signaller should be competent to complete their job, this means that they should have the necessary knowledge, training, and experience. This course aims to provide the knowledge required but a person’s competency should also depend on their individual experience & on site training.
(ii) The required level of lifting operation training / awareness within your specific workplace is determined by the Responsible Person completing a suitable and sufficient Risk Assessment.
(iii) All lifting operations are different and will come with different Hazards, Risks & required Control Measures. An individual’s competency to perform the duties of a Slinger / Signaller will depend on individual assessment, which should be completed by the Responsible Person prior to assigning any responsibilities.
(iv) An individual’s competency to perform the duties of a Slinger / Signaller will depend on individual competency, which should also consider the nature of the lifting operation in comparison to previous experience.
